She insisted on burlap for the table linens. Snag proof, practical.
But not ugly or plain. She picked burlap that was bleached and tie dyed with swirls of the colors that bring out the brown and green of her skin and leaves.
Fork, her partner, had only one request. No utensils so their friends wouldn’t have to work while they were at the wedding. Disposable and biodegradable options were out - that was just inviting soon-to-be dead things to the party. No one wants death at a wedding.
Finger foods and non-snagging fabric - the reception was set for pure fun.
Music-wise, Pineapple, never one for tradition, wanted heavy metal. And Fork, being super chill, wanted classical. They compromised with finding a small symphony orchestra to play covers of Pineapple’s heavy metal favorites and to metal-up Fork’s favorite classics.
That’s how they met, you know. Pineapple went to a tribute concert for Metallica and Fork was there because a buddy had an extra ticket and didn’t want to go alone.
Fork and Pineapple sat next to each other. Pineapple moved closer to Fork when she realized her pokey bits couldn’t hurt or scratch. Pineapple danced like she hadn’t danced in years, free from worry about hurting her seat mates.
Fork was entranced. All of Pineapple’s little dry leaves on her body moved in a hypnotic rhythm - with and against each other - in time with the music. Her crown of leaves mostly stayed still, but when the music hit the crescendo, those leaves went wild. Stretching another inch off the top, 20 fists pumping in emotional release.
Fork thought it was magical to watch.
It was a magical night that led to this wedding.
Glowing with happiness, filled with sweetness, Pineapple was ready for her wedding day.

How it started…(showing my messy work)
So what would a pineapple and a fork’s wedding look like? Pineapple, being all spikey would require that the lines be snag proof, the dress, because pineapples are obviously girls are made from a burlap that’s been bleached and tie dyed with swirls of the colors that bring out the brown and green of the pineapple skin and leaves. The fork, on the other hand, would be asking that the food be utensil less so that his friends don’t have to work while they are at the wedding and he weeps for the disposable and the biodegradable alternatives because that’s a death party. So finger food and non snagging fabric and linens. Music wise, pineapple , breaking with convention, wants heavy metal and fork, being a chill dude wants a bit of classical so the compromise it is the Metallica orchestra and the covers of heavy metal by orchestras. Maybe they find a high school orchestra to play at the reception of happy hour. And that’s how they met – pineapple went to a tribute concert for Metallica and fork was there because his buddy had an extra ticket and didn’t want to go alone. Fork and pineapple sat next to each other and pineapple leaned more into him because she realizes her pokey bits couldn’t hurt or scratch him so rather than hurting her other sear mate, she snuggled in closer to him. Pineapple danced and if you haven’t seen a pineapple dance – the little pokers are all moving in a hypnotic rhythm with and against each other, the leaves, they mostly stay still but when she needs a fist pump of something similar she goes wild with those leaves and those leave can expand another inch stretch and extend another inch out of the top of her heard. It’s magical to watch. It was a magical meeting.
